First time in Latvia Sustainability Index level has been defined by arranging entrepreneurs according to the result of the index in four groups – platinum, gold, silver, bronze. Rimi Latvia together with other 19 companies has reached silver level on Sustainability Index, gold and platinum level hasn’t reached any of the companies that participated this year.

Sustainability Index evaluates company’s performance and communication that affects environment, labour, market relationships and creates companies responsibility towards society. Index has been developed taking into account international recognized methodology in order to facilitate sustainable and liable business in Latvia and at the same time promote the best praxis in Latvian companies.

Rimi in doing its business takes very serious concept of sustainability and activities are built on sustainability principles. One of the directions with the aim to protect environment is not only to try to save on different resources, but also to use them economical. Rimi supports idea about clean and green Latvia and for that reason as well takes part in several projects in order to help environment. We also pay attention on waste sorting, recycling and overall diminishing. The food with expired date but that still can be used and do not cause any health problems, e.g. bread, vegetables, fruits, grain products is given to 40 animal shelters with whom co-operation is established. However Rimi organizes at least two customer researches in a year to provide customers with the best assortment and also to find out their needs, wishes and overall satisfaction with our stores. Based on results of research Rimi implements the changes and set for each employee a prepared action plan. Just as important for Rimi always has been education of new specialists and contribution in their development. Special trainings are organized in order to get more praxis and knowledge from sophisticated retail experts.
